Elinor Jackson 
Biography of Elinor Jackson
Elinor Drinkwater Rutherford née Jackson (d 1984) was a graduate of the University and is believed to have stroked for the first Cambridge ladies' rowing team to race on the Thames.
Born in Bearsden, Rutherford studied at Cambridge from 1919 to 1921 and then at Glasgow, where she graduated MB, ChB in 1924 and won the Brunton Medal. She worked as a gynaecologist and obstetrician at the Royal Infirmary, the Royal Maternity Hospital and Redlands Hospital before marrying a civil engineer, Richard Rutherford, who began to study Medicine the following year. In 1946, the couple acquired a general practice in Kirkcudbrightshire.
Rutherford was a founder member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
