Biography of Joseph Ayodele Shyngle
Joseph Ayodele Shyngle graduated MBChB from the University in 1966 and MD 1981.
Born Lagos, Shyngle came to Scotland for medical education, enrolling at the University in 1957. Upon graduation he held posts in Greenock and Bellshill before returning to Lagos where he became a senior consultant in accident and emergency surgery at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. He was also deputy commissioner of Scouts for Nigeria and played an important part in the Nigerian St John’s Ambulance Brigade.
Dr Shyngle went on to graduate MD in 1981 with his thesis 'A study of road traffic accidents in Lagos.' He died on 12 June 1981.
