Biography of Mary Frances Sharkey
Mary Frances Sharkey was a student at the University of Glasgow between the years of 1910 and 1912.
She was born in the state of Ohio, USA, daughter of a bottlemaker, Hugh. The family later relocated in Alloa in Clackmannanshire and she matriculated in 1910 at the University of Glasgow, studying History, Mathematics and English. During her undergraduate career, she lodged at Notre Dame Training College in Dowanhill, the first Catholic teacher training college in Scotland.
