Biography of Mary Vera Nash

Mary Vera Nash graduated from the University in 1914.

She was born on 19 October 1889 at Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, daughter of Frederick Nash, a machinist. Nash arrived to study at the University in 1911, where she studied German and Logic in her first year, before progressing to Ordinary English and Intermediate German in her second and Honours German, Honours English Language and Italian in her third. She appears to have excelled at German, gaining several first-class prizes in both Ordinary and Honours German throughout her undergraduate career. After graduating in 1914 in the Faculty of Arts, she continued to live in Glasgow and became a teacher.
