Biography of Robert Muirie

Robert Muirie graduated MA from the University in 1914.

He was born on 11 December 1891 at Middlesborough, Kentucky, son of Robert Lindsay Muirie, a bricklayer. The family later moved to Glasgow and Robert attended the University from 1911, studying Latin, Natural Philosophy, Logic, Mathematics, Constitutional Law and History. He graduated in 1914 and lived in Mossend, becoming a teacher.

During the First World War, he joined a reserve battalion of the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) as a Lieutenant and was instated as a temporary second Lieutenant in March 1915.
