Biography of James Witherspoon
James Witherspoon matriculated at the University of Glasgow in 1764. He was the eldest son of John Witherspoon of Paisley, the president of Princeton University and a signator of the Declaration of Independence.
Witherspoon served as a major in the American Revolution Army and aid to Brigadier General Francis Nash. He fell at the battle of Germantown in 1777.
