David Winton Scotland Jamaica

Biography of David Winton

David Winton matriculated at the University in 1837 to undertake an Arts course. He was the eldest son of James, a carpenter of Greenock.

Winton returned to the University as a student of Theology from 1844 to 1845, and was ordained for Jamaica by the Secession Church in 1847. He returned to Scotland for a short time in 1852, and on voyage back to Jamaica, along with his newly-married wife, perished on board the steamer RMS 'Amazon' in a fire.
