Biography of Susan Castillo
Susan Castillo joined the University in 1996 as Lecturer in the Department of English Literature. In 1999 she became Reader and from 1999 to 2003 was Head of the Department of English Literature. She was appointed John Nichol Professor of American Literature in 2001.
In 2006, Castillo left the University to take up the Harriet Beecher Stowe Chair of American Studies at King's College, London. She is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow of the University of Glasgow.
Professor Castillo's research interests include the writing of the Early Americas and the Gothic of the Caribbean South.
