Biography of Bonaventura Banelli

Bonaventura Banelli came to the University in 1913 at the age of 20 and joined the Engineering faculty, aiming for a BSc in Naval Architecture. He took classes in Natural Philosophy, Chemistry, Mathematics, and laboratory work for Physics. Banelli also received an exemption from his preliminary exams due to a Certificate from the Superior Industrial School in Trieste. Banelli did not return to the University for the following academic year, and is thought to have joined the war effort in Italy.

Banelli was born in Trieste, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, on 3 February 1893. He was one of the five sons of Carolina and Carlo, a merchant.
