Biography of Alexander Edgar
Alexander Edgar matriculated at the University in 1787. His matriculation records reveals he was born in Hamilton, the eldest son of Alexander of Martha Brae, Jamaica.
Edgar was a planter in Trelawney, Cornwall, Jamaica. It is likely he was of the Edgars of Auchingrammont who had owned estates and enslaved people in Jamaica from the early 1700s.
