Biography of Mansergh Frederick Haines Griffith
Mansergh Frederick Haines Griffith studied Medicine at the University from 1935-37. He was born at Plymouth, Monserrat, British West Indies, on 13 August 1904, son of Robert William Griffith.
After having attended Howard University, Washington, and City College in New York, Griffth enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1935 as part of an LCRP qualification. He studied Pathology and Radiology over the course of two years, and graduated in Medicine from Edinburgh in 1939.
He joined the Colonial Medical Service, and returned to the West Indies as a medical officer at the San Fernando Hospital, Trinidad. He went on to postings in the British Virgin Islands, and St Kitts and Nevis. Returning to Trinidad, Griffith was transferred to Tunapuna, where he settled after retirement from government service.
Griffth died in Trinidad on 14 October 1974, aged 70, after a motoring accident.
