John Charnock, the son of merchant, Robert Charnock, in London, attended the University of Glasgow for one year in 1808-9 and studied Latin. He was the brother-in-law of Daniel Keyte Sandford, and uncle of

He is thought to be the same John Charnock who died at Mandeville in Jamaica in 1849.
