Biography of Anthony Marucheau
Anthony Marucheau matriculated at the University in 1831 to study an Arts course. He was born in 1815 on the island of St Lucia. His father, Pierre (or Peter) Marucheau owned enslaved people who were forced to work on his sugar plantations Retraite and Black Bay.
Marucheau died in 1855.
Marucheau's brothers, Clermont and Jules, matriculated at the University in 1830 and 1837 respectively, with Jules graduating MD from the university in 1844.
