Biography of John Somervell
John Somervell enrolled as an Arts student at the University in 1795. He was the eldest son of Neil, a Glasgow - West India merchant.
Somervell died at Grenada, 20 October 1801.
There is no record of either father or son’s activities, though it is likely they traded in slave-grown produce. In 1772, Scots owned over half of all land on Grenada cultivated for use as sugar and coffee estates.
