Biography of William Nimmo
William Nimmo graduated MD from the Univerity in 1835. He was born in Glasgow, the eldest son of Dr John Nimmo. Nimmo was dux at the Glasgow Grammar School, and first enrolled a the University in 1822 as an Arts student. He went on to graduate MD in 1835, having gained Membership of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow in 1831. He was employed as an Assistant Surgeon at the Glasgow Eye Infirmary and he was also a Lecturer on Surgery in College Street.
In 1836, Nimmo went to Demerara, modern day Guyana, where he worked as a medical attendant. He died at 48 Brougham Place, Demerara on 15 of March 1841.
