Biography of James Ian Meldrum
James Ian Meldrum graduated MA from the University in 1940. He was born at Mongu, Zambia, son of James, a master joiner and missionary teacher for the British South Africa Company, who was head of the industrial department of the Kanyanyo government school.
Meldrum enrolled at the University in 1935 for four years to study for an Arts degree. He attended classes in History, Political Economy, French and German, graduating with honours in the latter two subjects.
