Biography of Brian Edmond Redshaw Kirwan
Brian Edmond Redshaw Kirwan enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1948 for one year to study Social Sciences. He was born at Kampala, Uganda, son of Delesal Francis, a planter.
After serving during the Second World War as a second lieutenant, Kirwan, then residing in Rotherham, England, enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1948, aged 35. He took classes in Economics, Industrial Legislation, Economic Theory, Social Psychology, and Government.
He went on to serve as a Community Development Officer in Uganda and was awarded an OBE in 1960 for his work.
Kirwan's publications include A Runyankore grammar (1957) and Elementary Luganda (1951).
