Biography of Lawrence Sebastian Morgan
Lawrence Sebastian Morgan graduated MBChB from the University in 1914. He was born at St George's, Grenada, son of Leo Francis, whose occupation he cites as gentleman and also merchant.
Morgan enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1909 following in the footsteps of his younger brother, Hyacinth Bernard Wenceslaus. During his studies, Morgan was awarded a 1st Class Certificate for the Insanity class of lecturer Landel R Oswald (Summer 1912) and a 2nd Class Certificate for the Midwifery class of Professor Murdoch Cameron (Summer 1913).
Upon graduation, Morgan served in the Royal Medical Corps for a brief period during the First World War before being invalided. He returned to Grenada, joining the Colonial Service, during which time he undertook several malarial surveys. Morgan also served as secretary and president of the Grenada branch of the British Medical Association. He was chief medical officer, medical offer of prisons and principal medical officer of asylum and quarantine station.
