Biography of Elena Gill

Elena Gill graduated MBChB from the University in 1925 and DPH in 1927. She was born in 1902 in Santander, daughter of William Nelson, who was a partner of Gill, Goodfellow and Company: Engineers, Ironfounders, Machine Tool Makers and Machinery Merchants based in Govan, Glasgow.

Elena enrolled at the University in the summer session of 1920, aged 17, to study Medicine. Upon graduation, Gill remained in Glasgow working Doctor of Public Health.
