Biography of Nora Geraldine Henry
Nora Geraldine Henry came to the University of Glasgow to study for an MA in 1910 and graduated in 1913. She then returned to university in 1917 to study Medicine, graduating MBChB in 1921.
Nora was born in 1891 in Glasgow to Stephen John, an Auctioneer. When she was 19 years old she began her studies at university. For her MA she took various subjects including Natural Philosophy and History. After graduating in June 1913 she became a teacher.
In 1917 Nora came back to university to study for a degree in Medicine. Clearly talented in the subject, she won several certificates for Surgery, Clinical Medicine, Physiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Diseases of the Throat and Nose. In April 1921 she graduated MBChB.
Continuing to work in the field, Nora worked as a medical illustrator for Professor McEwan and then moved to the Sudan to work as a doctor.
