Biography of Lord Frederick Sleigh Roberts Field Marshall The Rt. Hon. Earl of Kandahar, Pretoria, and Waterford
Lord Roberts, the famous Field Marshall, was awarded the honorary degree of LLD by the University of Glasgow on the 5th May 1913.
He was visiting Glasgow as part of his duties to the National Service League and the University conferred the degree upon him in a ceremony organised to coincide with his visit.
During his visit to Glasgow he stayed with Sir John Stirling-Maxwell in Pollock House and on the 5th of May made a spectacular procession through Glasgow to the University, via George square.
