Biography of George Maurice Drummond

George Maurice Drummond was an Arts student of the University in 1817, attending the Logic class of Professor George Jardine.

Drummond was born in Edinburgh in 1800. He went from Glasgow as Snell Exhibitioner at Balliol College in 1823, from where he graduated BA in 1826, and MA in 1829. Drummond was ordained as a Minister and his first charge was at St Mark’s Episcopal Church at Portobello, 1828-39. He was appointed Rector of Tarleton, near Preston in 1839-42, and later served at Trinity Church, Williamstown in Australia 1853-55, and at the Episcopal Church at Batavia, Java, 1855-57. He Died at Ratho, near Edinburgh, on 20 October 1860.
