Biography of Lev Sychrava
Lev Sychrava graduated MA from the University of Glasgow in 1953. He was born in Prague in 1928, son of Lev, a journalist. Sychrava began his studies at the Faculty of Law at the Charles University in Prague, but came to the UK in 1948.
Sychrava enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1949, aged 21, for an honours degree in Arts. During his four years, he took classes in Constitutional History, Moral Philosophy, Logic, History of Art, Political Economy (Hons) and Political Science (Hons). Sychrava received several prizes, including a prize for his Constitutional History and Moral philosophy classes, and a first class for his Political Science class (jun Hons). He was also awarded the John McLachlan Prize in 1951, and graduated MA in 1953.
Sychrava joined the Economist Intelligence Unit in 1959, and served as a chief economist in London. He later established his own consulting firm, Lev Sychrava Associates. In 1990, he revisited Czechoslovakia on behalf of the Economist Intelligence Unit to look at joint venture opportunities.
