Biography of Joseph Wilfred Hughes
Joseph Wilfred Hughes graduated BSc from the University in 1950. He was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, son of Thomas Watson, a mining engineer.
While studying at the University from 1937 to 1950, Watson gave as his hometown Chuquicamata, the biggest open pit copper mine in the world, and also Hamilton, Lanarkshire. After graduation in 1950, Hughes worked as an electrical engineer residing in Cambridge.
