Biography of Charles Sutherland McKay Murison
Charles Sutherland McKay Murison came to the University of Glasgow in the summer of 1903, aged 18, to study Medicine. He was born in Rio Tinto, Huelva, son of John, a merchant of eparto or needle grass. With strengthening links between Spain and the UK, his father's company exporting esparto achieved greater commercial power, and John or Juan Murison became British Vice-Consul of Almeria, and owner of the Almeria and Alhamilla Railway Company Ltd.
During his time at the University, Murison studied Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Materia Medica, Surgery, Pathology, Throat and Nose Medicine.
