Biography of Wensley Vidal Fowler

Wensley Vidal Fowler was born in Lagos, Nigeria, son of William, a retired accountant. Having been educated at Igbobi College, Wensley enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1945, aged 22, to study Medicine. He graduated MB ChB in 1950, attending further classes in clinical surgery and pathology in 1951.

Upon returning to Nigeria, Dr Fowler became a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in 1960 as an anesthetist.
