Biography of William Knox

William Knox graduated MA from the University in 1913. He was born on 27 September 1891 in Chicago, USA, son of James, a joiner. Despite the University of Chicago being established in 1892, William enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1910 as an Arts student.

Knox excelled in English over the course of his studies, obtaining a First-Class Certificate in Professor William Macneile Dixon's English Language and Literature class in session 1912-13. Alongside English, Knox studied a variety of subjects, including Mathematics, Moral Philosophy, History and Logic, graduating MA on 22 November 1913.

Following his graduation, Knox is recorded to have worked as a teacher, residing in Broadloan, Renfrew.
