Biography of Carl Paul Hering
Carl Paul Hering enrolled at the University in 1882, aged 20, and attended the Senior Class in English Literature. He was born in Guben, Prussia (modern-day Germany), son of Carl Hering, a manufacturer.
Whilst pursuing his studies at the University of Glasgow, he stayed at 1 Greenvale Place with the family of Dr Clemens Schlomka, the German School Master and later Headmaster of the Glasgow Academy and High School.
