Biography of Skiene Kang Hwang
Skiene Kang Hwang graduated with a Bachelors of Science (BSc) on 30 October 1913. He was born in Kwangsi (Guangxi), son of Fong Hwang, a naval officer.
Hwang first matriculated in 1910-11, aged 19, joining the Faculty of Science. During his fours years he signed up for classes and advanced classes in Mathematics, Natural Philosophy (Physics), Chemistry, Physical Laboratory, Mining, Engineering, Geology, Mineralogy, Electrical Engineering, and Metallurgy. He was awarded a first class certificate for Mining Class III (1911-12), and a second class certificate for Geology (1912-13).
