Biography of Harry Fred Tomson
Harry Fred Tomson was a student of Engineering at the University from 1947 until 1949. Tomson was born in Nõmme, Estonia, on 5 May 1922, son of Arthur, a Master Mariner.
As part of Tomson's Engineering course at the University, he also studied at the School of Navigation of the Royal Technical College (modern day Strathclyde University) from 1946-47. In 1948, his final year, he attended classes in Electrical Engineering.
While living in Glasgow, Tomson became a Merchant Navy Officer, obtaining British citizenship in January 1953.
