Biography of Margaret Wardlaw Waddell
Margaret Wardlaw Waddell graduated MA from the University in 1911, making her the first Indonesian-born graduate of the University. She was born in Surabaya, Java, daughter of James, an engineer.
Waddell attended classes in higher Latin, Greek, Moral Philosophy, Political Economics, Mathematics and History, graduating MA on 20 June 1911.
In 1919, she married Lewis Buchanan Ferguson, a senior partner of Messrs Ferguson & Blair, Writers, Glasgow. They were married in Hampstead, London.
