Biography of Anna Pollock Martin
Anna Pollock Martin graduated MB from the University in 1903 and MD in 1906.
Martin was born in Ashapura, India, daughter of Reverend William Martin, a missionary in Rajputana. Martin was educated at Park School, Glasgow, before enrolling at the University in 1898, aged 18.
A Fellow of the Glasgow Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society, Martin was resident surgeon of the Gynaecology ward at the Royal Infirmary and hospital surgeon at the Glasgow maternity hospital. She went in to private practice in Ayr, before serving as a Church of Scotland missionary to the woman's hospital, the Mure Memorial Hospital, Nagpur from 1920. For her services there, she was awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind medal in 1942.
