Biography of John Simpson
John Simpson graduated MD from the University in 1826.
He was born at Strathaven, Lanarkshire, son of Andrew. He served as a hospital mate for general service in 1810 and thereafter as assistant surgeon in the Peninsular War, and at Malta from 1818. In 1819 he was appointed staff surgeon, and in 1825 surgeon to the forces, but died at sea on passage home from Grenada on 14 October 1828.
