Addison 1727-1897 reads: Teacher in Maryland 1854-56; Computer on the "Nautical Almanac" then published in Cambridge Mass., 1857; Professor of Mathematics in the US Navy and assigned to duty at the US Naval Observatory, Washington, 1861; Senior Professor of Mathematics in the US Navy, with relative rank of Captain, 1877 and since then has been in charge of the office of the "American Ephemeris and Nautical Almanac"; in addition to these duties became in 1884 Prof. Of Mathematics and Astronomy in Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore; LLD of (1) Columbian University of Washington 1874, (2) Yale, 1875, (3) Harvard, 1884, (4) Columbia, 1887; PhD. Heidelberg, 1886; born at Wallace New South, 12 Mar 1835.
