Biography of Sir Thomas Hudson Middleton
Thomas Hudson Middleton graduated from the University of Glasgow with a BSc in 1883. He was born in Ross-shire in 1863, went to school in Edinburgh, and studied at both Edinburgh and Glasgow Universities.
Middleton became Professor of Agriculture at Baroda College, India, in 1889 before his appointment as Lecturer in Agriculture at the University College of Wales. He later became Professor of Agriculture at Cambridge in 1902 and by 1906 had been appointed as Assistant Secretary to the Board of Agriculture. In 1917 he became Deputy-General at the Food production Department and in 1926 was appointed to the Royal Commission on Agriculture in India.
Middleton received a C.B. in 1913 and was made Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1918. He was then created Knight Commander of the Indian Empire in 1929. Sir Thomas Hudson Middleton died in 1943.
