Biography of William Munn Hunter
William Munn Hunter graduated from the University of Glasgow MD CM in 1862.
He was born in 1828 and his father, William Hunter, was an apothecary. He first matriculated at the University along with his younger brother, John Baird Hunter, in 1858 and they attended classes such as Anatomy, Midwifery, and Forensic Medicine together. William won second class prizes in Materia Medica and Forensic Medicine during his studies.
After graduating in 1862, along-side his brother, William and John both worked for the British and Canadian Royal Mail Service. William then practiced with John in Paisley for a short time, before setting up his own practice in Eckington, Derbyshire.
William Munn Hunter died on 10th November 1921, aged 94, having only retired a few years earlier.
William’s son, also William Munn Hunter, followed in his father’s, and uncle’s, footsteps and graduated from the University MB CM in 1893.
