Biography of Robert Ord
Robert Ord (1700-1778) was Rector of the University from 1767 to 1768.
Ord was a lawyer who became an MP under the patronage of Henry Howard, 4th Earl of Carlisle. He vacated his seat in the House of Commons in 1755 to become Chief Baron of the Scottish Exchequer.
