Biography of Margaret Smillie Taylor

Margaret Smillie Taylor graduated MA from the University in 1922. She was born at Shanghai, China, daughter of William, a former naval architect employed by the Shanghai Dock & Engineering Company, who was invalided by 1918.

Taylor matriculated at the University in 1919, taking classes over the course of three years in Mathematics, German, English, History, Logic, and Scottish History. Taylor also became a member of the trustee committee of the University's Sino-Scottish Society from 1929-1930.

Taylor married a John R C Philips, and worked as a teacher in Glasgow.

She died on 27 May 1977 at Bearsden, Glasgow.
