Agnes Kanema Sharpe graduated MA from the University in 1917.

She was born at De Peyster, New York State, daughter of the Reverend Dr George Sharpe, a Church of Nazarene missionary superintendent for Africa.

Sharpe enrolled at the University in 1914, and over three years took classes in Greek, French, History, Moral Philosophy (Higher), Political Economy, Logic and Metaphysics, and Geology, for which she was awarded a second class certificate in 1916-17. Sharpe graduated MA on 25 June 1917.

The next year she married David Hynd, who she had met while at the University. They were married at Parkhead Pentecostal Church, Glasgow, on 2 January 1918 while he was serving with the 3rd Highland Light Infantry. They were both ordained into the ministry and became missionaries at Swaziland. Their children, Margaret Jane Sharpe and Samuel Wilson Hynd would also go on to graduate from the University.
