Biography of Alfred Henry McClintock

Alfred Henry McClintock graduated MD from the University in 1844.

He became a Licentiate of the King and Queen’s College of Physicians (Ireland) in 1851 and has two medical eponyms: McClintock's sign (a pulse rate of more than 100 per minute as being indicative of postpartum haemorrhage if it occurs an hour or more after parturition) and McClintock's symptom (a subperitoneal emphysema in ruptura uteri incompleta).
