Biography of William Gilmour Ashcroft

Major William Gilmour Ashcroft was born in Mearns, Renfrewshire in 1904. He graduated Bachelor of Science from the University in 1929.

Ashcroft was Officer Commanding of D Company of the seventh battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders. He was killed in the battle for Cheux on 28 June 1944 along with two other officers of the battalion.
